agent-secrets handles the keys and tokens an AI agent needs in order to act, without exposing them in the model’s context. Released under a free licence, readable, reusable without us.
What it is
An agent that calls tools needs credentials. The quickest way to give it them — pasting them into the prompt — is also the worst: they travel to the model provider, they end up in logs, and they survive in histories nobody ever rereads.
agent-secrets puts credentials behind a boundary: the agent asks for an action, never for a key. The secret stays server-side, the call is traced, and revocation happens in one place.
Why we built it
We wrote this piece for our own projects, then published it because there is nothing specific to our trade in it. It is the first of a series: whatever is reusable will be published.
